Barrier on provisional front row

Good first qualifying practice session for Sylvain Barrier with the fourth time, while his team mate Michaël Savary is 18th.

Maxime Berger (Ten Kate Honda) was the fastest in Assen on his team’s home track. He was in front of the championship leader Ayrton Badovini (BMW). For the third position, there is one tenth of a second between Michele Magnoni (Honda) and Sylvain Barrier (Garnier BMW). This is a good result for the team with his rider on the provisional front row of the starting grid.

Michaël Savary couldn’t express himself as he wished because he had some minor technical problems. Obviously, these will be solved for tomorrow and he will be able to do much better than the 18th position.

Michel Garnier (team manager): “The fourth time for Sylvain is good. He used an old tyre until 8 minutes to go, than changed and went one second faster. There is still some work to do. We start this weekend everything from the beginning with new mechanics. Tomorrow, Sylvain may be quicker if the motorcycle is progressing. Michaël will do a few laps with Sylvain tomorrow morning and it will be better.”

Sylvain Barrier: “We still have some work to do. This morning, we had the same problem with the front end than in Valencia. I put my new tyres with 8 minutes to go and I did two fast laps to make sure and to see if there was any more problem to solve.”

Michaël Savary: “I had some trouble with the fork this morning and also a little oil leak. Considering that, I couldn’t go as fast as I wanted. We progressed this afternoon, the bike is better than this morning.”
