Superb qualifying practice session for Sylvain Barrier who finishes in third position. This will put him on the front row of the starting grid of the race tomorrow.
Since the beginning of the practice sessions of this weekend, Sylvain has always been in the top group. He qualified 2.46 tenths of a second behind the championship leader Ayrton Badovini, who is racing like Barrier on a BMW S 1000 RR.
This good result of Sylvain Barrier is promising. With a good race on Sunday, he can reasonably expect to improve his actual fifth position in the championship standings.
Michel Garnier (team owner): “We put the new tyre with 8 minutes to go. Sylvain could do a quick lap, then another one, and then he had to stop because the track was slippery. The track temperature was 56°! We are happy. We worked well. We are targeting a podium tomorrow, let’s try. We are looking for good points. We have been well since the beginning of the weekend.”
Sylvain Barrier: “Things went pretty well. There is still some work to do, especially to improve the grip of the rear wheel when I enter the curves. I rode smoothly today. We are progressing with the suspension. We know our equipment better and my mechanics know me better.”
