Learning day

Markus Reiterberger, Beau Beaton and Randy Pagaud discovered today the very fast track of Monza, impressive and quite special. The day went pretty well with a regular progression, for the riders and for the settings of the bikes.

Monza is not a simple track, but the three riders of the team like its original layout. They have better racing lines lap after lap and Saturday looks promising.

The provisional pole position went to Lorenzo Zanetti, in front of his team mate Sylvain Barrier and Danilo Petrucci.

Michel Garnier (team owner): “This first session was pretty good, as the riders didn’t know the track at all, and this is only their second race with this bike. They need time to learn the track. Last week, there was here an Italian championship race and many riders participated, so they know the settings already. Markus was fifth for a while, but his engine broke. Randy progressed, so I am happy with this session. The technical crew did a great job.”

Markus Reiterberger: “In the morning it was OK. I have never been here before. In the first qualifying session, I did my first two or three laps and it was getting better and better. Then in the third lap, in a fast right hand corner, the engine broke. Now we change the engine and we are looking for tomorrow.”

Beau Beaton: “We made some good progress with the bike. I think this track is very difficult to overcome. When we will have some good settings, we will be on the pace I think.”

Randy Pagaud: “It has been a good Friday on this track that I didn’t know, but very fast and impressive. It’s a great experience. Regarding the chassis, we go in a good direction. We are not as far as we were in Assen on the first day. Now we can start working to qualify in the top 20.”
